Project Overview
The Tamang community, the primary inhabitants of this area, display remarkable resilience despite minimal government support for both academic and physical development. Students often trek from various hillside valleys without proper uniforms due to financial constraints and pervasive poverty. Additionally, many children face health, sanitation, and hygiene challenges, with water supply being a significant issue. Children often miss school due to the need to assist their families in farming, a practice ingrained in the generational mindset of the community. This further hinders their educational attainment and limits their future opportunities. Recognizing these challenges, FourPOSE Charity has committed to a mission of transforming Shree Buddhi Siddhi Primary School into a safe and conducive learning environment by 2026.
Our Mission
To complete the renovation of Shree Buddhi Siddhi Primary School by 2026, providing essential equipment and constructing necessary buildings to ensure the students have the tools they need to succeed in their education. We aim to create a sustainable environment that fosters long-term growth and development.
School Background
Shree Buddhi Siddhi Primary School currently operates with:
- 6 classrooms
- 2 library and resource rooms
- 2 basic toilets (one each for girls and boys)
- An unusable drinking water tank with limited water source access
The school lacks a proper playground and requires significant maintenance, especially to level the existing uneven ground. This poses safety hazards and limits opportunities for physical activity. Additionally, the school’s remote location (13km off-road from the nearest accessible point) presents logistical challenges in obtaining clean drinking water.
Project Goals
- Refurbish and improve all eight classrooms.
- Enhance the library and resource rooms with essential learning materials and technology.
- Construct a safe and functional playground for student recreation.
- Build additional toilets to meet hygiene and sanitation needs.
- Establish a reliable and sustainable clean water source for the school.
Project Activities
- Conduct a detailed assessment of existing infrastructure needs.
- Secure necessary permits and materials for construction and renovation.
- Hire local labor for construction and renovation works.
- Install new sanitation facilities and upgrade existing ones.
- Level and develop the playground area.
- Implement a sustainable water solution (e.g., rainwater harvesting system, well drilling).
Project Timeline
The project is anticipated to be completed within five years, subject to weather conditions and material availability.
Budget
The total project budget is estimated at USD 95,000.
Solutions
- Partner with local construction companies and skilled labor to ensure project sustainability and community involvement.
- Explore eco-friendly building materials and water solutions to minimize environmental impact.
- Implement ongoing maintenance plans to ensure the longevity of the improved facilities.
Long-Term Impact
This project will significantly improve the learning environment at Shree Buddhi Siddhi Primary School. By creating a safe, well-equipped, and resource-rich school, we aim to:
- Enhance student academic performance and overall well-being.
- Increase school enrollment and attendance rates.
- Foster a positive learning atmosphere that encourages creativity and critical thinking.
- Empower the local community by providing quality education for future generations.
